The Case of the Crumbling Castle: Delhi Public School, Dwarka's hostel Gets a Makeover
The vibrant energy of young students at Delhi Public School's Dwarka hostel masked a hidden danger. The stone facade construction, covering the entire 40,000 sq. ft. primary block, had become cracked and brittle. Fear of falling debris from grit wash stone plaster emerged, as large panels threatened the safety of students.
A swift response was taken. Experts diagnosed the culprit: years of harsh weather had weakened the stone. Their rescue mission began with removing all loose panels. Next, a fresh double coat plaster was provided, followed by a textured paint coating for added protection.
But the real heroes were the granite panels installed at the base, up to a height of 1.5 meters. Renowned for their strength, they acted as a shield against future water damage, the most vulnerable point.
The danger vanished after the building’s modification, replaced by a sense of security and a more modern facade with the help of Saluja contracts’ quick thinking. This case study highlights the importance of vigilance in ensuring student/civil safety. From crumbling castle to a safe haven, the hostel's transformation is a testament to preventative action and expert care.
